Padres' Adrián Morejón: Two scoreless innings on Monday.

Adrián Morejón threw two scoreless innings of relief on Monday in a 6-5 win against the Giants. In his outing, the southpaw used 32 pitches - 20 of them for strikes - while allowing two hits, a walk, with two strikeouts. This year the young reliever has pitched in 17 games working 23 innings with 21 strikeouts, an 3-0 record, and a 2.74 ERA.

Néstor Cortés (groin) will throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

He'll then progress to a live batting practice session Saturday. If all goes well, it sounds like he'll skip a rehab assignment and go right back into the Yankees' rotation after that. That would seemingly put Cortés on track to start one of the team's game against the Twins next week at home.

Jay's Lourdes Gurriel Jr: One single on Monday.

Gurriel Jr. went 1-for-5 on Monday's 5-4 victory against the Cubs. It was Gurriel's 127th hit of the season, a year where the Cuban outfielder is slashing .295/.345/.404 with 5 HR and 51 RBI. With his only hit in the game, Gurriel extended to 6 games his hitting streak. He has batted .233 with no homers and 2 RBI during that period.

Reds' José Barrero: Took seat Monday. Barrero wasn't in the starting lineup Monday against the Cardinals, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Barrero started the last seven games and hit just .087 with a run, an RBI, two walks and 11 strikeouts over that stretch. Kyle Farmer is starting at shortstop and batting third Monday.
