With a big eighth-inning rally, the Arizona Diamondbacks stunned the Philadelphia Phillies, 6-5 in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series. With Game 5 set for Saturday night in Arizona, the best-of-seven series is even at 2-2.


Through five innings, the score was 2-2 between the bullpens. With three runs combined in the sixth and seventh innings, the Phillies were able to give their late-inning arms some breathing room. Despite one run by the D-backs in the seventh, it remained 5-3 heading to the bottom of the eighth as Craig Kimbrel and José Alvarado awaited Phillies manager Rob Thomson. But i wasn't enough.


Kimbrel gave up a leadoff double to Lourdes Gurriel, retired Evan Longoria on a long fly ball to left field and then, on a full count, allowed a tie-breaking home run to pinch-hitter Alek Thomas. Prior to being removed from the game, he gave up a single to Ketel Marte and hit Corbin Carroll with a pitch. With Alvarado entering the game, Gabriel Moreno hit the game-winning single.


Lourdes Gurriel Jr. contributed with a double in the stunning win against the Phillies in Game 4 of the NLCS.


In Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. contributed with a double. His double in the eighth inning allowed him to score minutes later, helping his team come from behind to win Game 4 of the NLCS. As a whole, Gurriel had a 1-for-4 game, scoring one run. Additionally, in the second inning, he made a spectacular catch in left field.



Gurriel's offense seems to be improving at the right time. His last two games have seen him go 2-for-7 with 2 doubles and an RBI after going 0-for-8 early in the NLCS.
